About Us

The Bursary Foundation was founded in 2018 by Jenny, a former primary school teacher. Whilst teaching in inner-city Manchester, Jenny began mentoring and tutoring pupils with great academic capability. She wanted to support them to realise their potential. For some of them, this included being awarded bursary places at leading independent schools.

Jenny started The Bursary Foundation to connect more deserving pupils with the best available opportunities. She is passionate about bridging the gap between the state and independent sector, nurturing talented children and widening access to the very best educational opportunities.

If you would like to find out more about what we do, Jenny would love to hear from you.

Charlotte fell in love with Manchester's diversity when she moved to the city for university. She began tutoring in 2012 alongside her studies for her MA degree and this experience was the start of her career as a professional tutor.

Since then, Charlotte has supported children from a wide range of backgrounds working for various tutoring agencies and non-profits such as Tutor Trust. She is passionate about helping pupils to reach their full potential and is a firm believer that all children should be able to access the best education available. The Bursary Foundation is an exciting opportunity for her to assist academically gifted children to gain access to prestigious schools and fantastic educational opportunities.

Charlotte is managing The Bursary Foundation project in Manchester and tutors our Year 6 pupils.
